Lead Children to Jesus
Pray – (1/2 minute)
Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.” (Matthew 18:12-14)
Passage: Matthew 19:13-15
Jesus did not get mad very often. In fact, there were only two things that made His anger flare. One was the self-righteousness of the Pharisees whose hypocrisy and legalism kept people under spiritual bondage. The other was when parents brought children to Jesus, desiring for Jesus to bless those children, but the disciples tried to turn them away because they thought Jesus was too big or too busy to be bothered with children.
Jesus welcomed children and He wanted them to become His followers. He knew that children had tender hearts and that it was not a leap for them to put their trust in Him. He illustrated the heart of God with a story of a shepherd leaving ninety-nine safe sheep and going out to look for one which was lost. We have the same heart for leading children and all people to Jesus. God loves people. Jesus came to save. We must share the gospel to be great in His eyes.
