Pray – (1/2 minute)

     Passage: Psalm 66:1-7

Photos are important to us, especially photos of our families. We like to look at them and to show them to other people, but there is one thing we want with our pictures. It is for them to be in focus. As believers in Jesus, we are pictures to show the world what He is like, but there are times that the picture we show is out of focus. It gives a blurred and distorted image of Jesus and does not make Him attractive to non-believers. We need to live lives in focus and one good example for us of a life in focus was give by a single adult by the name of John.

When John was engaging in his ministry by the Jordan River, a group of religious leaders came from Jerusalem to see him. John gave them a clear picture of God and put the focus on Christ. John was just one man, but one is a special number to God and it is enough in His eyes. God Himself is a One. Three distinct persons of the God-head in Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but one God. The church is one. Many members, but one body. Biblical marriage is one when a man and woman come together in commitment and the two become one. A single adult, like John, is one and he or she is enough to give a clear picture for the world to see what God is like.
