     Passage: John 10:7-18

An old fable, in different forms, is told of a man who enlisted a boy with a rowboat to take him out fishing below a dam. As they were out, the man wanted to find out about the boy’s education and asked, “Do you know anything about astronomy?” The boy answered “No”. The man replied, “You have missed a part of life.” He then asked, “Do you know anything about philosophy?” The boy answered, “No”. The man responded, “You have missed even more of life.” Just then, the boy saw the dam begin to break and knew there was not time to row to shore. He asked the man, “Do you know how to swim?” The man replied, “No”. The boy said, “You are about to lose your life.”
One of the things Solomon noted about gaining knowledge was that the more people knew about, the more they had to be concerned about. Therefore, many people don’t want to know or think about anything they fear. However, that will not prevent something from happening. The ultimate event in that is death. No one will escape it. The only question is, what will happen after you die. Education cannot provide eternal security, but Jesus can. Know Jesus and know life. Thank Him for saving you!
