Passage: John 17:20-23
The Belgian horse is the strongest one in the draft horse breed which includes the famous Clydesdale’s. One horse can typically pull up to 8,000 pounds. One might think that two horses could double that, but no, they can actually triple that. It’s an example of synergy which means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Solomon observed that “two are better than one.” They are stronger together. They are safer together. They are more productive together. The combination of two working together is greater than the total each one can produce working alone.
God did not design us to do life alone. We need each other. Solomon recognized that and then added, “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” That third strand is Christ in us. When a church body joins together in love and unity to fulfill God’s purposes, they can do far more than the total of every person trying to ministry alone. God wants us to support each other in the work He has called us to do. When we do that, we will be stronger spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and effectively for Christ. Let’s make a difference together for Him.
