      Passage: Isaiah 9:6-7

You and I have a beginning to our lives. There was a moment of conception and then the day of our physical births. On Christmas Day, we will celebrate the physical birth of Jesus, but that was not the day of his beginning, and neither was the moment of His human conception. Jesus is the infinite God, who is eternal, without limits. He has no beginning or end. The Apostle John stresses that in the first words of His gospel account when He tells us that Jesus is God.
In one of the many times that the Jewish religious leaders made accusations about Jesus, He told them that anyone who followed Him would never die. That caused those leaders to challenge Him by asking if he was claiming to be greater than Abraham. Jesus stated, “I tell you the truth. Before Abraham was born, I am!” “I am” was the name God used to identify Himself to Moses and the Jewish leaders unmistakably understood that Jesus was claiming to be God by applying that name to Himself. It would be blasphemy for anyone else to claim that, but it was the absolute truth about Jesus. He is fully God and He is the Lord.
