Passage: Psalm 1:1-6
God designed us to need relationships, but you won’t have people around you 24/7. However, as a believer, you have the Holy Spirit, the presence of Jesus, with you permanently, every moment of every day. Nothing can take away His presence from you, but the consciousness of His presence and the closeness of fellowship you have with God depends on you developing the discipline of spending time with Him and learning to hear His voice.
An old agage says, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”, but that is only true if the absence is brief and the relationship has been extremely close. Our sin nature wants to distract us from maintaining a close relationship with God. Even when we are active in attending church and doing service activities, it is possible to get in a spiritual rut and stop growing closer to Christ, because it’s easy to get in the habit of doing service for the King, but not spend time with the King. A Quiet Time with God, as you are having now it a time to spend with God in His Word and in prayer. Jesus felt that need to spend time with the Father and if He needed it, so do we. In 2025, have a consistent time alone with God and stay fresh spiritually throughout the year.
