Don’t Give in to the Sin Nature

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
Passage: Psalm 25:1-15

There are many ways to describe the philosophy of the world, but one is found in a line of a song “One Night at a Time”, sung by George Strait. The lyrics describe a secret relationship between two unmarried people and have a line which says, “It feels so good, it can't be wrong.” God’s answer to that is – Yes it is wrong. It’s wrong because God’s design for sexual intimacy is restricted to a marriage relationship between one man and one woman. Anything outside of that is sin.
The actions and attitudes of the sin nature which Paul gives are not exhaustive, but they point out the reality that no one is immune to sin because all of us are sinners. There is no place to categorize sin as big or little. Every sin shows our need of Christ. Sin will never produce God’s best for you and no matter how it feels at the time, it is wrong. Recognizing the conduct of the sin nature will help you avoid it and find God’s best for you.
