Passage: Psalm 115:1-18
January 10, 2025 was “National Quitters Day”, which falls on the second Friday of January every year. The second Friday was selected because it marks the day when studies of New Year’s Resolutions show that many of them come to an end. Being faithful to a resolution is not one of the characteristics of most most people, because the resolution runs up against the frailty of human nature.
While faithfulness is an elusive characteristic for people in the world, it is a one of the distinct characteristics of Christ found in the fruit of the Spirit. In 1 Thessalonians 5:24, Paul tells us, “The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it.” God doesn’t expect you to be faithful by your own power. You can’t and you won’t do that. Jesus is the source and the motivation for faithfulness and He will produce His faithfulness in you for you to display faithfulness to Him before the world.
