Grateful for Duel Citizenship

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:18-20)
  Passage: Psalm 100:1-5

Every person born on United States of America soil or who has at least one parent that is a citizen, is automatically a citizen of the USA. Citizenship grants many privileges and it carries responsibilities. The concept of citizenship was developed by the Greeks and adopted by the Romans. Citizens of Rome had many advantages over non-citizens in what they could do and how they could be treated. Those advantages were used by the Apostle Paul, who was a Roman citizen by birth.

Most of the Jews in Palestine and many non-Jews throughout the Roman Empire did not have Roman citizenship, but Paul let them know that, as believers in Jesus, they had another citizenship that was higher and better. It was citizenship in God’s Kingdom as children of God. In Christ, you have a dual citizenship just like Paul did. You are citizens of a country on earth and you are a citizen of heaven. Set your heart to be the best citizen you can be of both.
