Passage: Psalm 103:13-22
God loves us He wants us to know Him and to trust Him. One of the ways He helps us to that is through names He inspired people to attached to His name, Jehovah. The first of those was the one given by Abraham after God had tested him by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Just before Abraham carried it out, God stopped him and provided an animal that Abraham could use as an offering instead. Abraham call the place, Jehovah Jireh, which means “The Lord our Provider”, or “The Lord Who will See to It.”
During this week of Thanksgiving, you may have opportunity to be with family and/or friends. If you are the host for the meal, I know you are glad to be able to provide it, just as any good parent considers providing for his or her children to be both a privilege and a responsibility. As you provide for family, remember that the provisions you have come from the hand of Jehovah Jireh, the one who will see to it and will provide all your need. Then, pause and give thanks. God has been good to you.
