Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “And Moses, the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, nor his strength gone.” (Deuteronomy 34:5-6)
Passage: Psalm 18:1-3, 27-33
Moses was raised the first 40 years of his life in Pharaoh’s palace. From the earliest days when God has worked to have him cared for by his own mother, he had identified with the Hebrew people. He tried to help them in his own power, but that failed and he had to run away to the wilderness. He spent the next 40 years as a shepherd in obscurity when God encountered him through a burning bush and called him to be a deliverer. Moses argued that he couldn’t do it. God made it clear that He would do it through Moses. Moses spent the final forty years of his life leading God’s people to prepare them to enter the Promised Land.
Joshua tell us that Moses was still strong at 120 years old. That is not natural. God kept him strong. Though our bodies grow weaker with age, we can experience spiritual strength that grows stronger every day. Paul learned this lesson and he said in Philippians 4:13, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” Get on higher ground with Jesus through His Word, in worship and through being a witness. He will strengthen you to accomplish whatever He has planned for you to do.
