Focus on the Promise of Heaven

Pray – (1/2 minute)

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also me be where I am.” (John 14:3-4)
       Passage: Philippians 1:19-26

         A preacher asked everyone who wanted to go to heaven to stand up. One older member of the church remained seated. The preacher called out to him and asked, “Don’t you want to go to heaven?” The man replied, “Sure I do, but I thought you were getting a group up to go today.” God has wired us for life and since this world is the only life we know, it is natural for us to cling to it and desire to stay in it as long as we can. However, God has a place prepared for all His children that is so much better than anything we know and experience here. That place is heaven.
        One of the keys to dealing with the storms of life is to focus on the promise of heaven. The Holy Spirit, who comes to dwell in the life of every believer is the down payment and guarantee of the glorious future that God has prepared for us. In Revelation 21:4, John heard a voice saying, “He (God) will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. . .” When trials and heartaches come, look up and remember that with heaven as your home, the best is yet to come.
