Turn People to Jesus Through Compassionate Works

Read – (2 1/2 minutes) – “Many people, because they had heard that He had given this miraculous sign, went out to meet Him.” (John 14:25-27) Passage: John 13:31-35
Jesus performed many miracles, but He never did one to meet His own needs or desires. For example, the gospels record two times when Jesus fed thousands of people by multiplying a few loaves of bread a few small fish. However, when Satan tempted Him after His 40 day fast in the wilderness to turn stones to bread to satisfy His hunger, He refused and replied, “It is written, ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”(Matthew 4:4) The reason Jesus did miracles was out of love and compassion for people and to show that He is the Messiah.
As a believer, you are part of the Body of Christ. You are His hands and feet to touch lives and turn people to Jesus. One key way is through compassionate works that show the love of Christ. D.L. Moody, who God used to reach thousands in Chicago and around the world in the late 1800’s, once said, “Faith makes all things possible. Love makes all things easy.” When you have a family member or a dear friend in need, your love will compel you to gladly help in any way you can. In the Great Commandment, Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When we do more of that, we will see more people turn to Christ.
