Keep on Praying Because of Your Rights in Christ
Pray - (1/2 minute)
Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "And the Lord said, 'Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice and quickly, . . ."
(Luke 18:6-8)
Read: Hebrews 4:14-16
The widow in the parable who came to the judge for justice, did not have a relationship with the unjust judge, but she did have something else. She had the right to go to him because the law was on her side and she had a legal claim to have the wrong corrected. As a believer, you have the relationship with God as your Heavenly Father and you also have the spiritual right to come before Him with boldness and confidence in prayer. That boldness does not come from any inherent goodness on your part. It comes because of Jesus and praying in the name of Jesus gives you the right to come before the throne of God to help in your time of need.
George Mueller was an evangelist in the 1800's who is best known for the huge work he did in caring for over 10,000 orphans in his lifetime and for his reliance upon God through prayer without asking people for donations. Regarding perseverance in prayer, Mueller once wrote, "I spend hours every day in prayer. The answers are always coming. When I am persuaded that ta thing is right, I go on praying until the answer comes. I never give up. I have been praying every day for 52 years for two men, sons of a friend of my youth. They are not converted yet, but hey will be. How can it be otherwise when we have the unchanging promises of God?" Keep on praying. God is the same today, yesterday and forever. He will answer.
