Good Spiritual Health

Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.” (Titus 1:5)

When it comes to taking care of our bodies, two basics things are always mentioned. Diet and exercise. That sounds so simple, but it can be a struggle for many of us because our taste buds like things that are not the most nutritional and exercise takes more discipline and effort than we may want to do. Motivation for healthy living comes from deciding that the benefits of a healthy lifestyle outweigh the consequences of an unhealthy one.
A local church is a body of Christ in its community and God wants His body to be healthy in order to function at her best and fulfill His purposes in the world. Paul was well aware that an unhealthy church would not only be unable to impact the world effectively for Christ, but in many cases, it would negatively hurt the witness for Christ. Paul told Titus that he wanted him to help establish churches on the island of Crete that would be healthy and effective. Churches in good spiritual health are essential for the development of disciples and the advancement of the gospel. Pray for your local church and set your heart to help her be as healthy as God wants her to be.
