At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.” (Titus 3:3-5a)
    Passage: Ephesians 2:1-9

I grew up in a Christian family attending church it seemed like, every time the doors were open. With the faith of a child, I asked forgiveness for my sin and confessed by belief in Jesus as a young boy. As the years went by, I was often enamored when I would hear an evangelist in a revival talk about how bad his life was before he received Jesus and how much Jesus changed him. I sometimes wondered if I should have waited to receive Jesus and done more “bad” things, so that I would have a “good” testimony. I am glad to say I came to realize how wrong that was.
Jesus didn’t come because we were bad and He wanted to make us good. He came because we were spiritually dead and He wanted to make us spiritually alive. The sins we commit in action and attitude are simply bi-products of the sin nature within us. That sin nature does not live for the glory of God or seek His Kingdom. One of the reasons many believers lose their passion for Christ is that they forget how Jesus changed their lives. The simple act of faith released the mercy of God upon their lives, and they were made alive spiritually after being dead in their sin. Thank God for the change Jesus made in you and live the difference for Him.
