The Spirit give you the Choice to Follow
Pray - (1/2 minute)
Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” (Galatians 5:25-26)
Passage: Galatians 2:15-21
Friday night football games are big in Texas, but the boys playing the game are not the only draw that brings in the crowd. The band and drill teams that perform at half time are also big draws and most of the families of students are more interested in the half time show than the game because their children are in the band or drill team. Those two groups put in hours of practice to learn to march in step with each other and make their routines and programs as good as they can be.
The Holy Spirit worked for your conversion to bring you trust Jesus and confess Him as Lord. He understands the inner conflict you face with the sin nature, and He provides the power to change your life so you can reflect Jesus in your character and conduct. However, the choice is yours to follow. God calls you to follow. The Spirit brings conviction to you, but the choice to be obedient and follow is up to you. Walking in step with the Spirit comes as you love God and worship; when you love His Word and study it; when you love His people in fellowship; when you love His work through service and ministry; and when you love His world through sharing Christ personally and partnering with your church family in missions. Love the Spirit’s work in you and walk well for Jesus.
