The Spirit Worked for Your Conversion
Pray - (1/2 minute)
Read - (2 1/2 minutes) - "But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:18)
Read: John 6:41-51
Back in 1976, Campus Crusade launched an evangelistic campaign called “I Found It”. It included TV and radio spots, billboards and more. The launch promotions showed people simply saying, “I found it”, as a teaser to wet the appetite of people to wonder ”what did you find?” A few weeks later, the promotion changed to give the explanation, with people saying “I found it. You can too - new life in Jesus Christ”. An estimated 85% of the American people saw the campaign in some form. Many churches got involved and it help usher in a fresh emphasis on sharing the gospel.
I am glad for the encouragement it gave many people, including myself, to share Christ, but before any of us found Christ, the spiritual reality is that He found us. No one can get to heaven on their own, because one would have to be perfect in action and attitude his or her whole life. Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t live and then paid the penalty for our sin. His Spirit worked to draw us to himself and then gave us the grace to confess Jesus is Lord and to receive Him as our Savior. We found life in Christ, because Jesus found us. He is worthy of all our love.
