Passage: Psalm 122:1-9

God wired people to love their families. Parents want the best for their children, and they desire their families to be close-knit and to enjoy being together. One thing that will break the hearts of parents is when a grown child separates himself/herself and no longer wants to be part of family gatherings. We are wired that way, because that is exactly how God feels toward people.
Sin separates people from God, but because of God’s great love, Jesus paid the penalty for sin so we could be spiritually born into God’s eternal family. As part of God’s family, God wants us to love Him and love our fellow believers. Two key ways we express our love for Him are by gathering together for worship and fellowship. King David shared His love for gathering with God’s people in Psalm 122:1 when he wrote, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’ ” The house for David was the Tabernacle, a tent used before the Temple was built. The idea of missing a worship service would have been foreign to David. Show your love for Christ’s church by being consistent in worship attendance and regularly connected in fellowship with other believers.
